Ghana helps save Nubian Monuments

Ghana is to contribute over sixteen thousand pounds towards a scheme for saving the Nubian monuments including the Abu Simbel’s two temples in Egypt. The two 3,000 year – old temples will be flooded by the Aswan High Dam when completed unless removed and rebuilt on higher ground. Ghana’s contribution is in response to an appeal by UNESCO for 40 million dollars to save the monuments. The Ghana Government has also put on sale commemorative stamps in compliance with UNESCO’s special appeal to member.
